Hi my name is Landen Mick. This is my student portfolio programmed in HTML and CSS. I am currently a sophmore at The University of Texas at San Antonio where I am majoring in Cybersecurity, BBA. My interest in the cybersecurity field peaked through my exploration of computer science in my IB Computer Science classes in high school. I have spent over 5 years doing freelance web development where I programmed websites in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for individuals and companies. As an Eagle Scout, I’ve developed strong leadership, adaptability, and problem-solving skills, which I bring to all aspects of my personal and professional life. I pride myself on being resourceful and people-oriented, with a collaborative mindset that thrives in team settings. I understand the importance of communication and integrity, especially in a field as critical as cybersecurity. Connect with me on Linkedin!
At Village, I worked with and learnt from the IT team on best practices to troubleshoot issues, deploy software updates, and set up new equipment across campus. I gained real world experience on the configuration of network systems, maintaining databases, and supporting both students and faculty with their tech needs. I spent time working in server rooms across the ~25 acre school. Through these experiences I now understand the configuration and setup of server rooms as well as how to program the switches in the server room. Through this internship, I not only deepened my technical skills but also learned the importance of effective communication and teamwork in a professional setting dedicated to educational excellence. I had the privilege of learning from a variety of very smart people with one on one explanations provided to me. Furthermore, I had a great time interacting with the teachers and students and helping with any and all IT related inquiries.
At Chili's, I developed strong interpersonal and communication skills to provide excellent customer service. I excelled in a fast-paced environment, appropriately prioritizing tasks and collaborating with colleagues. I became proficient in clear communication with my colleagues as well as the guests. Challenges included managing difficult customers and resolving conflicts effectively. Overall, my experience at Chili's has equipped me with essential skills in customer service, communication, teamwork, adaptability, and problem-solving.
I worked as a freelance developer for almost 6 years. I have had countless experieneces over long periods of time with a variety of different clients while living overseas. This was my income source during high school and taught me a lot about computer science, as well as working with people and clients. Other skills that I had to refine really well was trouble shooting, learning things quickly, and customer service. I capitalized on the opportunities that I've had to network during this time and have been fortunate enough to work with many incredible individuals and businessses.

As a cybersecurity student, I spend most of my time on the work assigned to me by my professors. Despite the busy workload, I understand the importance of performing well in school whilst maintaining a healthy headspace. I do this by ensuring I spend time with my friends as well as occasionally visiting back home. I enjoy going to the gym, rock climbing, and cars. I am very focused on personal development as well as career development. In addition to refining my personal skills, another way I am expanding my career portfolio is through the pursuit of an internship where I can gain valuable experience and learn from the some of the best experts in the field.
